Mental Health Awareness Week is October 4th-10th, 2015

Mental Health Awareness Week was established in 1990 by the U.S. Congress to recognize the efforts of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to educate and raise awareness about mental health and well-being. Taking place each year during the first full week of October, Mental Health Awareness Week is an opportunity for organizations and individuals from across the country to come together and promote public education on mental health. Activities that occur during this week typically include community events, health fairs, educational presentations, vigils, and benefit run/walks.

In an effort to bring this awareness to the forefront of the Los Angeles community, we have the unique opportunity to light LA City Hall lime green for MHAW. This vibrant color - symbolic of vigorous life and flourishing health - has emerged as the national color of mental health awareness and represents our collective efforts to overcome the stereotypes, stigma, and discrimination associated with mental health challenges. You can be part of this unprecedented moment by donating a minimum of $5; with each donation, you'll receive a free Each Mind Matters sticker, car magnet, or ChicoBag® in gratitude, as well as recognition in a future blog post.
